Engineering services are provided to the Township by several different consulting firms. Those firms provide the following services to the Township.
Draft bid packages for public improvement projects assuring administrative and technical completeness, conduct the bidding process, then act as project manager to oversee the work performed.
Formulate escrows for land development projects and recommend appropriate release of funds as work is completed.
Inspect items involved with site work, including roadway and parking lot paving of wearing and binder courses and the grading and compaction of the subbase; placement and compaction of piping, inlets, and manholes, for storm and sanitary sewers; placement and compaction of water mains, and laterals; implementation of fire hydrants, thrust blocks, and fittings.
Work closely with municipal, county, and state agencies and officials to assure strict project compliance with governing authorities.
Provide Geographic Information System (GIS) services as needed.

Cumru Township Commissioners are requesting sealed bids for the services required for the: REPAIR OF POPLAR NECK ROAD BRIDGE OVER SCHUYLKILL RIVER
Major work items include (approximate quantities): Maintenance and protection of traffic during construction (LS), bridge debris containment system (LS), access and rigging (LS), milling of bituminous pavement surface (1,852 SY), concrete beam and deck repair (813 SF), seal cracks in concrete by epoxy injection (69 LF), replace existing deck drains (68 EA), replace existing deck joints (220 LF), apply protective coating for reinforced concrete surfaces (1,757 SY), install membrane waterproofing system on bridge deck (1,467 SY), approach roadway excavation (52 CY), install 18” reinforced concrete pipe (40 LF), install Type D-E endwall (1 EA), reset guiderail (63 LF), place R-4 rock protection (20 CY), and construction of bituminous pavement surface (1,852 SY). A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held for this project on Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 1:00 PM prevailing time at the Township’s office. All bidders desiring to attend must inform the engineer a minimum of one business day prior to the meeting by e-mail to Robert.Schoenen@STVinc.com.
The material and workmanship shall be in accordance with Standard Specifications of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PENNDOT) Publication 408/2016 and all supplements thereto.
Bids will be received by Cumru Township until 9:00 AM prevailing time on the 8th of March, 2018, at the Township office. All Bids shall be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked “Bid Proposal for Letting of March 8, 2018” and accompanied by a certified check drawn on a bank authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or a Bid Bond with corporate surety in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the total bid made payable to or in favor of Cumru Township. A completed Anti-Collusion Affidavit must be included in the submission. Bids will be opened and read aloud at 9:30 AM on the 8th of March, 2018.
The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond, Payment Bond, and a Maintenance Bond, each in the amount of 100% of the Total Bid.
Notice is given that this work is a project constituting public works and is subject to applicable provisions of the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act of 1961. Appropriate prevailing minimum wages must be paid by contractors in connection with performance of the necessary work.
